Honeygar

Honeygar, also Honegar is a mix of honey and apple cider vinegar, similar to switchel. Originally used for its health benefits since ancient times. The name Honeygar was coined by Dr D. C. Jarvis in the 1950s in his book Folk Medicine: A Vermont Doctor's Guide to Good Health.

Many in natural health circles have claimed that the Apple Cider Vinegar in Honeygar has wide ranging benefits on health. One particularity repeated claim is its benefits for the symptoms of Arthritis. Recently medical studies have begun to revisit claims about cider vinegar, particularly with respect to diabetes, weight loss and insulin resistance.[1]

Following the success of Jarvis's book in the US, honegar also enjoyed some popularity in Japan. The still-produced "Vermont Curry" brand uses apples and honey due to the influence of honegar when it was introduced in 1963. [2]
