Characters

Annie

Annie is a young girl who likes to explore, learn, and meet new people. She is adventurous and is shown to have a vivid imagination. Her hobbies include singing, dancing, collecting photographs and other mnemonics that remind her of the things she’s learned. Her curiosity often lands her in trouble. She is often shown travelling around the world with her friends, Ben the dog and Mango the monkey. Often Ben gets her out of sticky situations brought about by their misadventures.

Ben

Ben is Annie’s pet dog. He is often referred to on the show as her best friend. They are always seen together in every episode. He is aware of Annie’s tendency to get into sticky situations and often acts as her guardian angel, giving her friendly, timely, sound advice. His purpose on the show is to hone the moral compass of the audience, which mainly consists of very young children. A lot of the show’s moral education is derived from the relationship between Annie and Ben. He shares a love-hate relationship with Mango the monkey. Although he often gets riled up at Mango’s silly antics, he secretly adores his mischievous ways.

Mango

Mango is the show’s mischievous monkey. He is portrayed as a cute, hyperactive character that would do anything to get his favourite food – a banana. His love for bananas often lands him in risky situations which Annie and Ben have to pull him out of. He is also a prankster who often plays harmless practical jokes on Annie and Ben. A lot of the show’s comedy and entertainment comes from Mango.
