Horokhiv (Ukrainian: Горохів, Polish: Horochów, Yiddish: ארכעוו‎, Russian: Горохов) is a town in Volyn Oblast, Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Horokhiv Raion. Population: 9,165 (2015 est.)^[1]

History

The first written mention of it was in 1240 in the Hypatian Codex. During WWII, hundreds of Jews^[2] of the city are kept imprisoned in a ghetto before being murdered in a mass execution perpetrated by an einsatzgruppen.^[3][4]
