Hotokenuma

Hotokenuma (仏沼) is a wetland area connected to Lake Ogawara at the base of the Shimokita Peninsula, Misawa, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Land reclamation projects begun in the 1960s to convert the area into paddy fields have since ceased. 222 ha were designated a Ramsar Site in 2005.[1][2]

Birds

Hotokenuma is home to the Japanese marsh warbler (Locustella pryeri), listed as near-threatened on the IUCN Red List.[3][4]
