Hpa-An (Burmese: ဘားအံမြို့; MLCTS: bha: am mrui. [pʰə ʔàɴ mjo̰]; also spelled Pa-An) is the capital of Karen State (also known as Kayin State), Myanmar. Hpa-An is the largest and most populated city in Karen State and it population estimates vary widely as no census has been taken in Myanmar since 1983, and the 2014 census has not yet released the populations of cities. The population as of the 2014 census is 421,575. Most of the people are Karen ethnic.
Climate
Hpa-An has a tropical monsoon climate (Köppen climate classification Am). Temperatures are very warm throughout the year, although maximum temperatures are somewhat depressed in the monsoon season due to heavy cloud and rain. There is a winter dry season (November–April) and a summer wet season (May–October). Torrential rain falls from June to August, with over 1,100 millimetres (43 in) falling in August alone.

Sights
Kayin State Cultural Museum is located in Hpa-An.The Zwegabin Hill is an attractive place for visitors. Kyaukkalatt (Kyauk Kalat Monastery) and Kawtgon Cave (or Kawgoon Cave) is also a place of interest.
Sport
Zwegabin United FC founded in 2010, is based in Hpa-An.The club is competing in Myanmar National League.
Sport Climbing
At Bayint Nyi cave , new climbing site have been developed with the help of Andrew & Kathy and Technical Climbing Club of Myanmar since 2015. [3] [4]
