Hrant Vardanyan (Armenian: Հրանտ Վարդանյան, 23 January 1949 - 19 April 2014)[1] was an Armenian businessman. He was born and raised in Armenia with his two older sisters. He was the founder and chairman of Grand Holding, which includes Grand Candy, Grand Tobacco, International Masis Tabak and Masis Tobacco.[2] In 2007 he stated he was the 4th largest taxpayer in the country. He was commonly known for devoting his life to improving the economy of Armenia.[3] Hrant Vardanyan attended Kirov No. 12 school, and in 1974 graduated from the State Engineering University of Armenia. Later, in 1990, he received a doctors diploma in economics. He received the Anania award in 1999, and a gold medal from Serzh Sargsyan, the president of Armenia.[4] .[5] In April 2014, 65-year-old Hrant Vardanyan died due to heart disease. He is buried in the Yerevan Pantheon.[6][7][8][9]
