Cenei is a commune in Timiș County, Romania.
Name
In German, it is known as Tschene, in Hungarian as Csene, in Croatian as Hrvatski Čenej, and in Serbian as Ченеј / Čenej.
Villages
It is composed of two villages, Bobda (German: Bobda; Hungarian: Papd; Serbian: Бобда) and Cenei. It also included Checea village until 2004, when it was split off to form a separate commune.
Ethnic groups
At the 2002 census, 63.6% of inhabitants were Romanians, 12.2% Serbs, 11.9% Roma, 9.1% Hungarians, 1.7% Banat Swabians and 1.4% Croats.
Religion
As of 2002, 82.6% were Romanian and Serbian Orthodox, 13.2% Roman Catholic, 1.5% Pentecostal, 0.8% Baptist and 0.5% each Reformed and Greek-Catholic.
