Huaneng Power International Inc., or Huaneng, was established in 1994 administrated by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. It is one of the five largest power producers in China. It engages in the development, construction and operation of large power plants.[1] China Huaneng Group (CHNG) has an 11.11% stake in the company, Huaneng International Power Development Corporation (HIPDC) has a 36.05% stake in HPI.[2] CHNG has a 51.98%% stake in HIPDC.[3]

In 2008 Huaneng acquired Tuas Power from Singapore's Temasek Holdings for $3 billion US dollars.[4][5]
