Then Colonel Hugo Martinez was the original commander of Search Bloc, a unit of officers assembled in 1992 by the President Cesar Gaviria and tasked with the sole objective of the apprehension of drug lord Pablo Escobar and his associates.
Martinez retired to the city of Bogota.[1]
In the Netflix series Narcos the fictional Horacio Carrillo played by Maurice Compte was loosely based on Hugo Martinez.[2]
