Hungerhill School is for ages 11 - 16. History
- The school opened in 1976 as a mixed comprehensive school with 800 pupils.
- In September 2005, it gained specialist status in Science, Mathematics and Computing.
- The school became an academy in August 2012.
- The school officially opened its new "Maths" block to students in 2014.
- As of September 2014, there are approximately 1,200 pupils attending, with over 75 teaching staff.
Radio Frequency Tags
In 2007, it trialled a system that monitored nineteen students as they entered classrooms by embedding a RFID microchip in school uniforms, a form of electronic tagging.
Academic performance
The school decided to have no sixth form in January 2015, but at GCSE, it gets results above the national average.
