History

History of rugby league in Huyton

Main article: Huyton RLFC

Prior to the establishment of Huyton Bulldogs, rugby league had been played in Huyton when Liverpool City RLFC had moved to the town and renamed themselves Huyton RLFC in 1969. The club remained in Huyton until 1985 when the decision was made to move the club to Runcorn. Alt Park, the ground at which Huyton RLFC played was subjected to constant vandalism over the years and also due to the lack of interest in rugby league from the locals the decision was made to move the club.

Huyton Bulldogs

Huyton Bulldogs were formed in 2009 and joined the RL Merit League. Their first season in the league was very successful as they took the North West title beating Wigan Riversiders Eels 36-12.
