Hyland

The name Hyland is of Irish origin Irish: from the Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó hAoileáin, a variant of Ó Faoláin (see Whelan) from the Irish word faol, meaning wolf. Other anglicisations include Phelan.

Hyland can also be an English topographic name meaning "high land".[1] For someone who lived on high ground or by land where hay was grown, from Middle English hegh, hie ‘high’ or heye ‘hay’ + land ‘land’.
