Hyun Jin Moon (born 1969), also known as Preston Moon, is the founder and chairman of the Global Peace Foundation.[2] The Global Peace Foundation is an international non-sectarian, non-partisan, nonprofit organization.[3]

Moon graduated from the Harvard Business School with an M.B.A. in 1998. He was born in South Korea but has made the United States his home where he is a citizen. He and his wife Jun Sook are the parents of nine children.[4]

Career

Moon founded Service For Peace in 2001.[5][6] Service For Peace is an international service and educational non-government organization that is recognized by the United Nations.[7][8] Service For Peace involves volunteers in ongoing community development programs throughout the world. Their programs are designed to further the growth and development of individuals and communities through the shared experience of voluntary service.[9]

Moon founded the Global Peace Foundation in 2009.[10] He is active as its chairman.[11]

Moon is a businessman, holding a Master of Business administration from Harvard University. He is chairman of News World Communications, Inc.[12]

In 2014, Moon wrote the book Korean Dream: A Vision for a Unified Korea.[13] Shortly after, in an interview with The Korea Times newspaper, Moon stressed that all Koreans should be interested and involved in the process of Korean peninsula re-unification.[14]

On November 20, 2014, the Korean Culture and Arts Publications recognized Korean Dream: A Vision for a Unified Korea as "Book of the Year" in the society category.[15]

Equestrian

Moon was a keen equestrian and regularly competed at a young age. Moon went on to become a two-time competitor at the Olympics as part of the South Korean team. He competed in Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 Olympics.[16][17]

Family

Moon is the third son of late Korean spiritual leader Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han. Moon and his wife Jun Sook are the parents of nine children.
