I.E.S. Gerardo Molina

I.E.S. Gerardo Molina is an institute of secondary education (Instituto de Eduacacion Secundaria) located in the small town of Torre Pacheco in the popular Spanish region of Murcia.

It takes in all children who are entitled to E.S.O.(Educacion Secundaria Obligatoria), in English: Secondary Obligatory Education, equivalent of the English GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) in the UK (United Kingdom). In 2008 it celebrated its 25th anniversary.

In academic years 1–3, there are four groups of classes, but in year 4, there are only two. ABC&D are the four groups, with year one holds all kinds of abilities in all groups, year two is when the pupils get sorted up into ability factor with the most academically able in A, descending until D.

In year three, there is an option to have two periods a week dedicated to a specialist subject like administration–accountancy (administrcion), automobile reparation (mecanica), electronics/electrics (electricidad), shop keeping (comercio), French (frances). Also in said year, the subject Ciencias Sociales (geography and history) in only dedicated to Geografia (geography. Ciencias Naturales (science) in divided into two subject subcategories: Fisica y quimica and Biologia y Geologia (physics+chemistry and biology+geology respectively).

In year four, it get even more complicated as you have to choose from a multitude of subjects in addition to the former options.
