IBC Express Balita (lit. IBC Express News) was the flagship program of Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC). It is one of 3 news programs produced by the network's News and Public Affairs Division and used to air 5:00pm on weekdays.
Its reportorial teams are tasked to gather news from every major beat in the Greater Manila Area as well as nearby provinces.
Airing history
Noel-Soriano era
The newscast premiered in August 17, 1998, replacing IBC TV X-Press. This was first anchored by Alice Noel and Ana Marie Soriano. In 1998, it was replaced by IBC Balita Ngayon.
Castelo-Eala era
Co-anchoring it were Precious Hipolito-Castelo, a former teen star, and Noli Eala. Eala left the newscast to anchor IBC News Tonight.
Castelo-Atienza era
Ali Atienza became Castelo's co-anchor. However, Atienza left the newscast in 2007 in order to run for mayor of Manila. He was temporarily replaced by Errol Dacame.
Castelo-Formento era
In 2008, DZRH reporter and host Bing Formento became the co-anchor. The team-up continued until 2009, when Castelo decided to run for Councilor of Quezon City.
Morales-Padilla era
On November 9, 2009, Jake Morales and Karen Padilla replaced Hipolito-Castelo and Formento; the newscast relaunched to their present look and OBB. However, Padilla, being the wife of Erwin Tulfo, left the newscast in late 2010 to be acquired by TV5 to anchor for Aksyon Breaking on AksyonTV, leaving Morales as the sole anchor of the program. Morales was joined by Cathy Eigenmann on May 16, 2011.
Lontoc and Parsad era
On June 17, 2011, Morales and Eigenmann left the newscast for IBC News Tonight. On June 20, 2011, Chal Lontoc took over the anchor chair. The newscast introduced its simpler studio set the same day. However, Lontoc was replaced by Zyrene Parsad a month later to become its final anchor.
Final broadcast
The newscast ceased airing on August 5, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. to make way for the afternoon edition of News Team 13.
