The Italian Chapter of the IEEE Robotic and Automation Society (I-RAS) is the Italian subunit of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.

Local chapters provide Society members with valuable opportunities to network at a local level enabling their personal and professional growth. I-RAS chapter supports local activities. Chapter activities may include guest speakers, workshops and seminars as well as social functions and awards. The IEEE I-RAS Chapter sponsors or cosponsors minisymposia, awards and student competitions and continuing education workshops. It also provides valuable professional contacts, especially for engineers who may have few co-workers who are robotics or automation professionals.

One becomes a member of the IEEE I-RAS Chapter when (s)he joins the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.

Italian RAS chapter was established in 2000. Paolo Fiorini was the Italian RAS chair from 2001 to March 2006, Domenico Prattichizzo was the chair from April 2006 to 2010, since 2011 the chair is Gianluca Antonelli. Italian RAS chapter counts 250 affiliates (June 2012) and is one of the 26 chapters of Italian IEEE section.
