Infrastrutture Wireless Italiane S.p.A. ( INWIT ) is an Italian company headquartered in Milan.
It is the tower unit of the Italian phone group Telecom Italia.[1]
From March 2015, the company operates in the wireless network infrastructure sector, and it owns, operates and leases about 11,500 wireless towers in Italy.[2]
History
Established in January 2015, INWIT starts to operate in the sector in March 2015 when the Board of Directors approved the transfer, from Telecom Italia to the new subsidiary, of the Tower branch, which counts approximately 11,500 sites ( called "Towers") and hosts radio transmission equipment for the mobile telephony networks of Telecom Italia itself, and other operators.[3]
Since June 22 INWIT is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange.[4][5]
The company is controlled by Telecom Italia, which holds 60% of the share capital.
Operations
In 2014, pro-forma revenues from INWIT totalled 314 million euros, the EBITDA totalled 135 million euros with a margin of 43.1%, and EBIT totalled 124,53 million euros.[6]
As of July 30, 2015 the company is the first Tower Operator in Italy,[7] and second in Europe [8] for the number of sites managed.
It counts 64 employees.[9]
Competitors
INWIT interacts, in the same market, with Rai Way, EI Towers, which is controlled by Mediaset, and Cellnex ( Abertis Group).[10]
