Plot

Unemployed engineer Stanley Hill (John Travolta) witnesses the murder of his wife Vivian (Rebecca De Mornay), who was attacked by thugs in a parking garage. Wracked with guilt, Stanley is haunted by the image of Vivian dying in his arms. When Detective Gibson (Sam Trammell) and other corrupt police officers are unable to bring the killers to justice, Stanley turns to his old friend Dennis (Christopher Meloni) and decides to take matters into his own hands. It is only then that Stanley and Dennis are found to have a mysterious past that, until now, they have kept very well hidden. As they inflict their revenge, Stanley uncovers a conspiracy that leads to the upper ranks of government, and those involved in the cover up will realise that Stanley and Dennis are more dangerous than they could ever have imagined...

Cast

Production

The project was first announced on September 11, 2012, by Deadline.com that Emmett/Furla Films had set Nicolas Cage to star in an action thriller titled I Am Wrath, scripted by Paul Sloan, and based on a story by Yvan Gauthier, while William Friedkin was in line to direct the film.[6] Lionsgate was set to domestically release the film, about Stanley Hill, who is out to seek justice on his own, when corrupt police officers are unable to catch his wife's killer.[6] Randall Emmett and George Furla were set to produce along with 50 Cent's Cheetah Vision, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb's Grindstone Entertainment Group, and Nick Vallelonga, Richard Salvatore, and David Omston's Vallelonga Productions.[6] On October 1, 2012, Deadline reported that Friedkin was "pretty much committed" to directing the film.[7] On February 19, 2013, Cage told Indiewire that "I Am Wrath is not going ahead, but not because of Billy (Friedkin)—other issues came out of the whole process."[8]

On February 11, 2015, the project was on track again with John Travolta cast in place of Cage and Chuck Russell set to direct the film; Michael Mendelsohn would co-produce the film with the previously attached Vallelonga and Salvatore.[1] Other members of the ensemble cast include Rebecca De Mornay as Vivian Hill, Sam Trammell as Detective Gibson, Christopher Meloni as Dennis, and Luis Da Silva as Charley, Paul Sloan as Lemi K, and Asante Jones as Detective Walters.[4] Patrick St. Esprit was also said to be cast to play Joe Meserve, the governor.[5] Amanda Schull was also added to the cast to play Hill's daughter.[3] Rob Carliner was also among the producers.[3]

Filming

Principal photography on the film began on March 9, 2015[9] in Columbus, Ohio. On March 18, 2015, filming was underway on the steps of Ohio Statehouse, and at a private home in Bexley, Ohio.[10] Film will also be shot in Cleveland and Alabama.[4]
