He turned professional in 2012 and has competed alongside Angus Gunn and Eirik Johansen for the goalkeeper's jersey in the club's under-21 side.[2] He joined Barnet on an emergency loan in December 2015, with injuries to Jamie Stephens and Graham Stack leaving the Bees with no senior keepers.[3] He made his debut in an away game against Yeovil Town.[4] Lawlor completed his loan spell at Barnet after 5 games and later went on to join Bury on 7 January 2016 until the end of the 2015-16 season.[5] He made his début for Bury in a FA Cup tie against Bradford City on 9 January 2016.[6] The game finished 0-0, with Lawlor keeping his first clean sheet for his new club.[6] Lawlor has since gone on to make 10 league appearences, keeping 5 clean-sheets[7], and 2 more FA Cup appearences for the Shakers.[8]
International career
Lawlor has represented his native Ireland throughout youth level, though primarily as second choice to Joe Coll. In 2014, he was called up to the senior squad following an injury to Rob Elliot, appearing on the bench for friendlies against Costa Rica and Portugal.[9]
