Idol Omen is the debut studio album by electro band Glass Ghost, released on October 27, 2009 by Western Vinyl. Pitchfork Media called it "subtle, spooked, reflective music."[1]

History

When Idol Omen was recorded and released, the band was a duo consisting of frontman Eliot Krimsky and drummer Mike Johnson. Guest artists on the album include Luke Temple and Joan Wasser, among others. Johnson mixed both live and electronic drums for the album, while "Eliot Krimsky sings about everyday mysteries in a relaxed, uncanny falsetto, tending to keyboards that dryly flicker and drone."[1]

It was largely well received by critics, with J. Allen of Allmusic writing that "the unpredictable muse of Glass Ghost leaves the listener uncertain what to expect next at any point," though "the mood for much of the album is a mellow, muted one, but even that lends the proceedings a winning openness and a sense of endless possibility".[2] Pitchfork Media wrote that "This is subtle, spooked, reflective music-- a distracted elegy for something or other."[1]
