If I Were for Real (Chinese: 假如我是真的; pinyin: jiǎrú wǒ shì zhēn de) is a 1981 Taiwanese drama film directed by Wang Toon.[1] It is an adaptation of Russian writer Nikolai Gogol's 1836 play The Government Inspector, with the setting moved to China during the Cultural Revolution of the late 1960s.
The film was selected as the Taiwanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 54th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.[2] It won Golden Horse Awards in 1981 for Best Feature Film,[3][4] Best Actor (Alan Tam), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Chang Yung-hsiang; 張永祥).[4] It was also nominated for Golden Horse Awards for Best Cinematography (Lin Hung-chung; 林鴻鐘) and Best Art Direction (Wang Tung; 王童).[4]

Jiaru wo shi zhen de (If I Were for Real) is a 1981 album by Teresa Teng, released internationally, including in Hong Kong, by Polydor Records, and in Taiwan by Kolin Records (歌林). In the Kolin edition, sides one and two of the Polydor edition were reversed, and one song is omitted.
