Imran Masood is a prominent politician in India. He has served as the Chairman of Saharanpur's Municipal Council and MLA in the UP state assembly.

The political lineage of Imran Masood's family can be dated back to 1932, when for the first time Qazi hanif was elected as the chairman of gangoh despite of the difficulties faced under the British rule. After qazi hanif, his younger brother qazi Masood took over the gangoh municipality. In 1969, Qazi Masood for the first time won the assembly elections. Qazi Masood's elder son and also Imran Masood's father Qazi Rashid Masood was known as a man of sacrifices and back bone of the family, he majorly dealt with local politics where he emerged as a popular figure for justice. Qazi Masood's younger son Rasheed Masood won his first elections in 1977 and since then has been a member of lok Sabah 5 times and rajya Sabah 3 times. Imran Masood's brother Noman Masood continues to take forward the family legacy from where it began by being a sitting chairman of gangoh.

He contested lok sabha election and secured 4.10 lack votes. In March 2014, a video clip surfaced in which Masood was seen threatening the BJP's Prime-ministerial Candidate, Narendra Modi.[1] Masood's partisans claim that this clip was six months old and had been deliberately leaked to polarize the electorate ahead of the Lok Sabha election. BJP's Raghav Lakhanpal defeated him in 2014 Lok Sabha election 2014.

On 29 March 2014, he was arrested by Police for his Hate Speech against Narendra Modi.[2]
