"In Pieces" was the second single to be taken from Shannon Noll's third album Turn It Up. The track was confirmed as a single on 21 September 2007, and was released to radio on Monday, 23 October 2007. The track was Noll's favourite from the album.
Regarding the song, Shannon states: "..this song is such a strong ballad and has a personal message for me. It is a song which I wrote when I was 17. I think many people will be able to relate to the message in it."
The song "Tomorrow" later appeared on Noll's singles compilation, "No Turning Back".
