Independence Day (Uzbekistan)

Independence Day is an official national holiday in Uzbekistan, celebrated on the first of September.[1]

History

In 1991, the August coup in the capital of the USSR in Moscow failed. Thanks to the initiative of President Islam Karimov August 31, 1991 was proclaimed the independence of Uzbekistan. August 31, 1991, the Supreme Council of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution "On the declaration of independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and the Law "On State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan". Uzbek SSR was renamed the Republic of Uzbekistan[2]
