The first batch of around 80 students for integrated Master of Science courses have already been admitted to the institutes at Kolkata and Pune. Almost double number of students were admitted in the second batch. These students were selected through the highly competitive IIT-JEE. Furthermore, some students were selected from the IISc's KVPY and the Olympiad student list.[13] Students qualifying any of the following examinations will be eligible for admission-
- Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)
- IITJEE – Those who feature in the regular merit list.
- State and Central Boards (top 1% in each board in class 12th)
From 2009, the IISERs stopped accepting students solely based on Olympiads. and relied only on KVPY and IIT-JEE. And from 2010, IISERs have started taking in students who do well in their board exams.
