Indonesian identity card
The Kartu Tanda Penduduk, commonly KTP, is an Indonesian identity card (literally: Resident Identity Card). Separate versions exist for Indonesian and non-Indonesian residents.[1] The card is issued upon reaching the age of 17 or upon marriage.[1] In the case of Indonesian citizens, the card must be renewed every 5 years.[1] For residents, the card's expiry date is the same as their residency expiry date.[1] Since 2011, the Indonesian government has implemented E-KTP or KTP elektronik which contains microchip on the card.
e-KTP card or electronic ID card is a document that contains demographic security systems / control both from the administration or information technology with a database based on national population.
Number in the e-KTP card will be used as the basis for issuance of Passport, Driving Licence (SIM), Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), insurance policy, Certificate of Land Rights and the issuance of identity documents (Article 13 of Law no. 23 year 2006 on Adminduk).
Fingerprints are recorded from each compulsory ID cards are all fingers (of ten), but the data included in the chip only two fingers, the thumb and right index finger. The structure of e-ID card consists of nine layers which will increase the security of conventional ID cards. Chip planted between white and transparent plastic on the top two layers. This chip has an antenna in it that will issue a wave when swiped. This wave will be recognized by the detector so that the e-ID card can be known whether the ID is in the hands of the right or not. Data storage on the chip in accordance with international standards and NISTIR 7123 Machine Readable Travel Documents ICAO and EU Passport 9303 Specification 2006. Form of electronic ID cards in accordance with ISO/IEC 7810 with a credit card size form factor that is 53.98 mm x 85.60 mm.
Thus, the electronic ID card that will be applied in Indonesia is a combination of e-ID UID PRC and India, because the electronics are equipped with a biometric ID cards and chips.
The electronic ID program is also one of the biometric industry’s most exciting projects which has made some stunning progress. In what is believed to be an industry record the program has achieved 100 million biometric enrollments and de-duplication's in just under one year.[2]
