Lakana is a provider of content management and digital media solutions for the television broadcasting industry. Owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Group, it was formed by the merger of Internet Broadcasting Systems, Enterprise Technology Group, and Inergize Digital Media.
History
Lakana was established in 1996 as Internet Broadcasting Systems.[1] The company provides digital publishing solutions for local news-media companies including Hearst Television, Post-Newsweek Stations, Morgan Murphy Media and Bonten Media Group.[2]
On March 13, 2014, Nexstar Broadcasting Group announced that it would purchase Internet Broadcasting for $20 million. The company had also recently acquired competitor Inergize Digital through its purchase of assets from Newport Television.[3] Nexstar then acquired Enterprise Technology Group (a spun-out joint venture between LIN Media and Fox Television Stations) and consolidated the three providers into a single provider known as Lakana, led by former ETG CEO Phillip Hyun.[4][5][6]
In mid-2015, Fox Television Stations shifted to Lakana for its station websites from competitor WorldNow, adopting responsive designs.[7][4]
