Infanta Maria Teresa of Spain[1][2] (Spanish: María Teresa Isabel Eugenia del Patrocinio Diega de Borbón y Habsburgo, Infanta de España[2]) (12 November 1882 in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain[1][2] 23 September 1912 in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain[1][2]) was the second eldest child and daughter[1][2] of Alfonso XII of Spain and his second wife Maria Christina of Austria.[1][2] Maria Teresa was an Infanta of Spain and a member of the House of Bourbon by birth and through her marriage to Prince Ferdinand of Bavaria, she was a Princess and Duchess of Bavaria and a member of the House of Wittelsbach.

Marriage and issue

Maria Teresa married her first cousin, Prince Ferdinand of Bavaria, Infante of Spain, eldest son and child[1][2] of Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria and his wife Infanta María de la Paz of Spain,[1][2] on 12 January 1906 in Madrid.[1][2] Maria Teresa and Ferdinand had four children:[1][2]
