Infernus was a death metal band from Bishtek, Kyrgyzstan. Infernus was active from 1995-2000. The band was known for vivid imagery, such as dead bodies spread on local media, brutality propaganda and promotion of cannabis as 'the best national product'.[1]
History
Early years (1995-1998)
Infernus started as a university project under the name Family Rape.[2] Later, the name was replaced with Infanticide, which evolved to Infernus, inspired by one of My Dying Bride's tracks.
The band appeared in local newspapers, and was photographed with dead bodies at a time when the band had recorded one live demo tape.[3]
Later phase (1999)
Later, the band converted into a more metalcore sound, under the influence of the band's vocalist, Bo. It recorded an album, released in mp3 digital download format through a label on the Internet.[4]
2000s
In 2000, the band experienced numerous member lineup changes. The final album, One Of The Many Nameless, was recorded at Koma Studio [5] with a new guitarist, Andrew "Corpse", who later left the band for more experimental projects.[6] Later, in 2003, Koma Studio organized an extreme music festival billed as "Koma 1", where Infernus performed, along with other local bands. Later, a compilation disc called Koma-1 was released, featuring Infernus' "Defeating the Daemons".
