Inkcap may refer to any of a number of toadstools of the genera Coprinus, Coprinellus and Coprinopsis.
Best known, and very good to eat:
- Coprinus comatus, the shaggy inkcap, lawyer's wig, or shaggy mane.
Next best known, and poisonous:
- Coprinopsis atramentaria, the common inkcap, inky cap, or tippler's bane.
Also any of the following, many of which are poisonous:
- Coprinus alopecius, the distinguished inkcap.
- Coprinus sterquilinus, the midden inkcap.
- Coprinellus disseminatus, the fairy inkcap, fairies' bonnets, or trooping crumble cap.
- Coprinellus domesticus, the firerug inkcap.
- Coprinellus micaceus, the glistening inkcap, mica cap, or shiny cap.
- Coprinopsis acuminata, the humpback inkcap.
- Coprinopsis ammophilae, the dune inkcap.
- Coprinopsis episcopalis, the mitre inkcap.
