Institutional Protection Service
The Service of Institutional Protection (SPI) of Panama is a dependency of the Panamanian Public Strength, ascribed to the Ministry of the Presidency. It is the attendant to offer protection to the Panamanian authorities like the president of the Republic and his ministers, ex-presidents and protect the spaces and public buildings.
It was created by means of the Decree Law N° 2 of 8 July 1999. Some of his functions also include the protection of the banks of the Channel of Panama and surveillance of public spaces like the Coastal Strip and Shod of Amador.
Account roughly with more than 1.500 units that find distributed in the GEAT (Special Group Antiterrorismo), the presidential policeman, among others.
