Instruments used in general surgery
Surgical instruments can be generally divided into six classes by function. These classes are:
- Cutting instruments
- Grasping or holding instruments
- Haemostatic forceps (instruments used to stop blood flow)
- Retractors
- Clamps and distractors
- Accessories and implants
