Interferometric gravitational wave detector
An interferometric gravitational wave detector is a gravitational wave detector that uses laser interferometry to detect the influence of gravitational waves on light that is moving back and forth between test masses.

Interferometric gravitational wave detectors include
- GEO600 near Sarstedt, Germany,
- LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) in the United States, in Hanford, Washington, laser beam arms totalling 5 miles, and a 2.5 x 2.5 mile facility in Livingston, Louisiana, 30 miles east of Baton Rouge.[1]
- Virgo interferometer, near Pisa, Italy.
