The International PayStar is a severe service truck manufactured by Navistar International. The PayStar is marketed to heavy duty truck operators in the construction, oil exploration, and refuse collection industries.
PayStar model line
The PayStar model line is diverse with four separate truck configurations available. Certain features such as engine and transmissions are available across the model line while axle configuration can be unique to just one model.

History
The PayStar was introduced by International Harvester in January 1972, as a construction-specific versions of the conventional Transtar.
From 1972 through 1980 the Paystar was offered in two ranges, the 5050 with mid-range engines, and the 5070 with heavy duty engines. Available as 4×4, 6×4, and 6×6[lower-alpha 1], they were usually straight trucks, but most offered trailer brake options.
Early Paystars had front axle GAWRs[lower-alpha 2] up to 20,000 lb (9,100 kg). Single rear axles were available with a 23,000 lb (10,000 kg) GAWR, for a GVWR[lower-alpha 3] of 42,750 lb (19,390 kg). Tandem rear axles were available with a 44,000 lb (20,000 kg) GAWR, allowing a 73,160 lb (33,180 kg) GCW[lower-alpha 4].[1]
By 2010 the PayStar was becoming a semi-tractor, although straight truck applications were still offered. Severe service straight truck applications were handled by the Workstar series, which offered no semi-tractors. In 2014 the PayStar is only offered as a 6×4 or 8×6 with high horsepower engines. The front axle GAWR, at only 14,600 lb (6,600 kg), is possibly limited for straight trucks, but correct for a semi-tractor. With rear axle sets up to 58,000 lb (26,000 kg) GAWR the Paystar has an 80,000 lb (36,000 kg) GCWR.[2]
