International Plowing Match

The International Plowing Match started in Ontario and has been happening for over a century.[1]

Summary

The International Plowing matches is one of the biggest outdoor matches in the country. In the early days or the plow match, they were sponsored by Agricultural Societies, which were the first farm groups to be started. In 1846, when the first provincial exhibition was held in the city of Toronto, a special feature of the event was a plowing match. These matches let farmers parade their skill and fine teams of horses.[2] It is still going on even now, and is now more of an event for all people and very much like a farmer's fair.[3]
