International Society of Arboriculture

The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is an international non-profit organization headquartered in Champaign, Illinois USA. Its mission statement: "Through research, technology, and education promote the professional practice of arboriculture and foster a greater public awareness of the benefits of trees."

The ISA has over 21,000 members internationally, with chapters and affiliates throughout the United States and Canada, as well as, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Asia, South America, and Europe.

The ISA also administers the only international professional credentialing program for the arboriculture industry. Certifications and qualifications include:

   ISA Certified Arborist®
   ISA Certified Arborist Utility Specialist™
   ISA Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist®
   ISA Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist®
   ISA Certified Tree Worker Aerial Lift Specialist®
   ISA Board Certified Master Arborist®
   ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification

ISA also provides the consumer education website www.treesaregood.org which provides homeowners with information on the benefits of trees and their proper care. This site also provides an online search where one can verify a Certified Arborist® or find an arborist for hire.

The organization holds an annual international conference as well as the International Tree Climbing Championship.
