International Tchaikovsky Competition 2011 – Piano
The 14th International Tchaikovsky Competition for piano was held in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, from June 14 to July 1, 2011, under the auspices of the Russian Federal Government and its Ministry of Culture. It was won by Daniil Trifonov.

Seong Jin Cho (South Korea)
Born 1994 in Seoul, South Korea, Seong-Jin Cho has establishes himself as one of the foremost pianists of his generation. Seong-Jin Cho began to play the piano at 6 years old and gave his first public recital five years later, when he was eleven years old. In September 2008, the fourteen-year-old Seong-Jin appeared at The 6th Moscow International Frederick Chopin Competition. He won the 1st prize of the competition, that took place there. In November 2009 he won the First prize of The 7th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan and he also got the special prize for the Japanese composer. In July 2011 he won the Third prize of 14th Tchaikovsky competition in Russia.
Seong-Jin has performed with Mariinsky theatre orchestra under the baton of Maestro Valery Gergiev, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Myung-Whun Chung. Seong-Jin has performed with Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Radio France Orchestra, Rundfunk sinfonieorchester Berlin, Festival Strings Lucerne, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra in Sapporo, Ural Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has given recitals at the Tokyo Opera City Hall, Osaka Symphony hall, St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, among many other places.
Seong-Jin toured Japan, Russia, Germany, France, China, and the United States, and took part in numerous music festivals, including Musical Kremlin(Russia), Castleton Festival (USA), International Keyboard Institute and Festival (USA), Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdroj (Poland),Polish Music Festival in Kraków (Poland), Great Mountains International Music Festival & School(Korea)and the Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music (Korea) .
He studies in Paris at The Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
