Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan

Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan (ISPAK) is a non-profit organization of Internet Service providers of Pakistan. ISPAK was formed in 1997 to act as a platform from which service providers could deal with the regulator, Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA).

One of the most important achievements of ISPAK was to convince the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) to implement single-pulse metering for dial-up Internet, back in 1998. What this meant for the majority of the Internet users was that they only had to pay for one single call even if they remained connected to their ISP dialup account for hours. Local calls are not free in Pakistan and the a multi-metering pulse would have meant that dialup users would be charged every three minutes for a new call.

ISPAK proactively monitors the regulations introduced by the Regulator (PTA) and takes steps to ensure that Internet users are provided access to the Internet free of any censorship.
