Internshala is a Gurgaon-based web venture providing internship resources and career services to students and employers.[1] The site offers internship searching and posting, and other career services such as counseling, cover-letter writing, resume building and training programs to students.[2] Internshala posts only paid internships and internships from NGOs on its website.

History

The Internshala, originally started as a blog, was founded in 2010 by two IIT alumni, Sarvesh Agrawal, an IIT Madras graduate and Ankur Khator, an IIT Bombay graduate.[3][4] According to Sarvesh, Internshala wasn't started as a business venture. He says, "Last year, a friend studying in London contacted me. He was hunting for an internship in India. After days of futile search, we realized that there was no online platform that focused only on internships. So I decided to start a blog that helps students in their internship quest. And, now taking it to the next level, we converted it into a portal."[5]

Featuring mostly internship requirements of start-up and Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as of October 2013 the site received 150,000 annual applications, with monthly reach of 1.58 lakhs, most of them from Indian college graduates.[1][6]

In December 2013, Internshala instituted a career scholarship for girls in memory of 2012 Delhi gang rape case.[7]
