History

Formerly Inverclyde House, it was gifted to the nation by Lord Inverclyde in 1936 and opened as a sports facility soon after. Now maintained by sportscotland, it comprises grass pitches, floodlit all-weather surfaces, cardio-vascular and weights rooms, golf practice facility and lecture rooms, and provides facilities for 22 different sports. Although its principal function is to provide a practice area or a base for elite athletes and teams, it does offer training facilities for the general public. Jose Mourinho and André Villas-Boas are examples of current football managers who obtained their coaching badges at the venue.
