The Iris was a schooner that sank in Lake Michigan off the coast of Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. In 2006 the shipwreck site was added to the National Register of Historic Places.[1]
History
The Iris was built in Port Huron, Michigan in 1866.[2] She spent 47 years sailing the Great Lakes, most of which were based out of Detroit Harbor, Wisconsin. In 1913 the vessel was abandoned after having been run aground.[3]
