Ishaan Dev better known as shaan is an Indian music composer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music programmer and stage performer in several South Indian languages. His body of work spanned across Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada . He is best known for his compositions in Malayalam cinema, Tamil and Kannada, with films such as Chintamani kola case, Sound of boot, Don, Kai, Shyloo.[1]

Biography

Ishaan Dev, born 13 August, hails from Thiruvallam, Thiruvananthapuram Trivandrum. He started basic lessons in carnatic music under his father Shri Soman and continued the formal training with musicians Iraniyal perumal, Ambalapuzha Vijayan, Neyyatinkara Surendran and Chandrababu. He was interested in music from childhood and was highly influenced by Classical Music. Ishaan graduated in Zoology at University College, Trivandrum. That was when he paired up with famous violinist Balabhaskar to form the music band Confusion. Ishaan was the lead vocalist and percussionist in the band. The duo hit the stages in early 2000s. Ishaan entered into Malayalam music Industry as the Associate of composing "Lajjavathiye…" (from Jairaj's For the People), and also been featured in it with his humming the thematic line of the song. He composed the song "Kaliya Visha Dhara" for a TV Commercial which received attention from director Shaji Kailas. Later Shaji Kailas selected it as the title track for his movie The Tiger.

"Shyloo" Ishaan's debut Kannada song from the movie Shyloo won him dual awards for Best Singer 2011 as well as best Upcoming singer 2011. The film's music director was his buddy Jassie Gift. Apart from Shyloo He has also worked in a couple of Kannada movies Munjane and Samkranthi. In Tamil his premiere movie was Elam avan seyyal in 2008 and Kai thunindavan in 2012. His work in these movies met with high acclaim and appreciation from his supporters. Recently Dev has done a strong comeback into Kollywood with a handful of Tamil Movies. His Hits of 2015 second quarter from the movie Saaral' well anticipated by his followers to make a wave in Kollywood Music Industry.
