Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974
Israel took part at the Eurovision Song Contest 1974, Poogy represented with the song "Natati La Khayay". This entry becoming the second Israeli entry at Eurovision.
The band was selected by Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) in Internal Selection following the success of their album "Poogy Tales", the Israeli broadcaster, to represent the country at the contest, which took place on 6 April in Brighton, United Kingdom.
At Eurovision
Poogy performed 6th on the night of the contest at The Dome in Brighton, following Greece's Marinella and preceding the Yugoslavia's Korni Grupa. According to the laws of contest, only six people are allowed to perform on the stage during the performance, and therefore has Yoni Rechter, the keyboardist of the band, to be the conductor on the orchestra. The voting system tried between 1971 and 1973 was abandoned, and for 1974 returned to the previous system of ten jury members in each country awarding one vote each.
At the close of the voting the song had received of 11 points, placing Israel is 7th (with Ireland) out of a field of 17 competing countries.[1] The Israeli spokesperson revealing the result of the Israeli vote in the final was Yitzhak Shim'oni.
