issuu (/ˈɪsjuː/) is a free electronic publishing platform for magazines, catalogs, newspapers and more.[2] As a digital newsstand with over 21 million publications and 85 million active readers, issuu features leading and emerging titles in fashion, culture, arts, and hyperlocal content, all of which are accessible on any device.[3] Issuu software is used by many online publications.[4]
History
issuu was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2006[2] by Michael Hansen, Ruben Bjerg Hansen, Mikkel Jensen, and Martin Ferro-Thomsen.[5]
In 2008, the site was a South by Southwest (SXSW) finalist.[6]
In 2009, issuu was named one of TIME's 50 Best Websites.[7]
In early 2013, the company opened an office in Palo Alto, California and appointed CEO Joe Hyrkin, formerly of Reverb, Trinity Ventures, and Yahoo!, to helm its Silicon Valley operations.[8]
In July 2014, issuu raised $10 million in a Series B round to bring the total capital it has raised since it was founded to $21.5 million. That round of investment was led by KDDI, one of the largest telecoms in Japan.[9]
