Jaaga Study

Jaaga Study is a yoga and code school that operates from a farm near Bangalore from October thru March and from a village near Dharamshala, India in April and May. June to September Jaaga Study students are encouraged to volunteer with social organizations or intern with internet startups.

Method Participants learn to code by taking online classes from companies like CodeAcademy and Udacity. They also work on programming challenges on HackerRank and on open source projects like the CodeForIndia Learning X-Prize entry.

Certification People in Jaaga Study use online course certificates, their HackerRank profiles, and their GitHub repositories to represent their learning to the broader community.

Administration Jaaga Study is run by Freeman Murray who studied Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz and worked in the Java Group at Sun Microsystems. He has been living in India doing yoga actively since 2005.

Location Jaaga Study operates from the Jaaga pallet rack structure originally set up in central Bangalore. Jaaga Study started when Jaaga left it's Double Road location in 2013. Jaaga Study now operates from Hamsah Farm off Sarjapura Road just east of Bangalore City.

Accommodation Jaaga Study is a camping program. Participants live in tents on the Jaaga Structure. One of the goals of Jaaga Study is to explore high density light foot print living.

Yoga The yoga asana sequence practiced at Jaaga Study is a variation of the Ashtanga primary series significantly modified. The sequence takes 45 minutes and is followed by 15 minutes of pranayam. The internet is a core part of the Jaaga Study yoga program and extended pranayama, kirtan, and meditation instructions are played via the internet daily.
