Jacob Whitesides (born November 11, 1997) is an American singer-songwriter from Knoxville, Tennessee. He records for Double U Records, of which he is also the CEO.[1]

Career

2008–2014: The X Factor and 3 AM: The EP

Growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee, Whitesides first became interested in music while attending a bluegrass festival in 2008. In 2012, he gained national attention after making the first cut of The X Factor.[2]

Whitesides released his debut EP, "3 AM: The EP," in 2014, featuring cover songs of John Legend, Plain White T’s, John Mayer, among others.[3]

2015: Record deal and A Piece of Me

He released "A Piece of Me" on February 28, 2015 and it debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at #26 (#9 on the Digital Albums chart).[4] In May 2015, BMG announced their partnership with Whitesides and the formation of his label, Double U Records, where he serves as CEO.[1] In August 2015, he was named Radio Disney’s ‘Next Big Thing’ featured artist.[5]

On October 21, 2015, he performed his song "Secrets" on Good Morning America, his network morning TV debut.[6] He released his second EP of original material ‘’Faces On Film’’ on October 23, 2015.[7]

On December 3, 2015, Spotify USA announced him as one of the next big artists to look out for in 2016. Jacob recently released "Faces On Film." The artist also released his music video, Rules of Beautiful.

2016: Tour and New Single

Earlier in 2016, Whitesides announced that he would be touring America. His tour is known as the Lovesick Tour. On April 14, 2016, he released his fourth official single along with a music video, Lovesick. Whitesides has also been dropping hints about his debut album which would be released later this year. As of April 14, 2016, Whitesides has over 2 million Twitter followers, 1.6 million Facebook likes, 1.4 million Instagram followers, and over 16.2 million views on YouTube.[8]

Personal life

Whitesides has been dating fellow X Factor contestant and performer Bea Miller since 2015.[9]
