Jake Zimmerman (born July 5, 1974) is an attorney and the Democratic St. Louis County Assessor.[1] He is running for Missouri Attorney General in the 2016 election.[2] He is also a former member of the Missouri House of Representatives from the 83rd district.[3]
Early life and career
Jake Zimmerman attended Clayton High School.[4] He then went on to attend Claremont McKenna College and Harvard Law School.[4] He has worked as a litigator at Thompson Coburn.[4] He is a member of the Congregation B'nai Amoona.[4] In addition he is a board member of the Crown Center, a board member of the American Jewish Committee, and a former at-large member of the St. Louis Jewish Community Relations Council.[4] Jake and his wife, Megan, live in Olivette with their son Gabriel.[5]
Political career
Jake Zimmerman was deputy chief counsel to former Governor of Missouri Bob Holden.[4] Zimmerman was also Assistant Attorney General under Jay Nixon.[4] Zimmerman was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2006 and reelected in 2008 and 2010.[4] In 2011 he became the Democratic candidate for St. Louis County Assessor.[3] He was chosen for the nomination by the St. Louis Democratic Central Committee over attorney Leslie Broadnax.[3] He faced Chip Wood, the Republican nominee, in the general election.[3] Zimmerman was supported by the St. Louis Police Officers Association.[6] Zimmerman was criticized for not having any experience in the real estate field.[7] He responded by saying that, in this election, it shouldn't be good to come from the real estate interest group.[7] He was elected with 63.7% of the vote.[1] He was re-elected in 2014.
He is running for Missouri Attorney General in the 2016 election.[8]
