James C. Conwell

James C. Conwell is the president of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the nation's number one undergraduate engineering school for the last seventeen years. He has also served on the faculty at Vanderbilt University, Louisiana State University, and Grove City College. Upon arriving at Rose-Hulman he was given the nickname "Safety Jim" due to the various speed bumps and stop signs he constructed. He earned the B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee, then worked at Procter & Gamble. He earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering at Vanderbilt University. He later worked for Jacobs Engineering.

He is married to Angela Conwell, who is also a mechanical engineer. They have two children.[1] Rose-Hulman is Number 1.[2]
