James H Boyd Intermediate School, formerly Cuba Hill School, is a three-year primary school serving grades 3-5. It is part of the Elwood School District in Huntington, New York.
Trivia
- In 2008, John Bisbal III, a fifth grader at Boyd, won $2,000 for winning the Wham-O 60th Anniversary National Kid's Inventor Contest and will have his toy patented and brought into the 2010 toy lineup.[1]
- James H. Boyd Intermediate, along with Elwood-John Glenn High School, were referenced in a radio skit from The Opie and Anthony Show.
- The school's address is 286 Cuba Hill Road. It was formerly called the Cuba Hill School from its opening in 1955 until the 1980s, when it was renamed in honor of the first superintendent of the school district. Cuba Hill School was a replacement for Elwood's Little Red School House, which opened in 1915 and still stands on Cuba Hill Road near the intersection with Elwood Road.[2]
