James Loye

James Loye (born 23 May 1979, Chipping Sodbury, Bristol, United Kingdom) is a British musical theatre/theatre actor best known for playing the male lead of Frodo Baggins in the Toronto and London production of Lord of the Rings the Musical.

He did a three-year course at the Welsh College of Music and Drama then moved to London and started doing provincial theatre until Lord of the Rings came along. He has performed as Cloten in Cymbeline and Aguecheek in Twelfth Night (both in Regents Park Open Air, NT Ian Charleson Award nomination), Prince Charming in Sleeping Beauty, Verukha in The Master and Margarita and Lysander in A Midsummer Nights Dream amongst others.

In television, he has played Lieutenant David Mellis in the award winning BBC series Dunkirk, and his radio credits include The White Guard, Who Shot Shelly?, Molière Imaginaire and King Lear.
